Oltu stone is not simply black.
Quarried from the mountains of eastern Anatolia for centuries, it carries a depth that ordinary stone cannot match — a rich, warm darkness that seems to absorb light rather than reflect it. In the Ottoman tradition, oltu was the stone of choice for the finest tesbih. It was carved by masters, carried by scholars, and passed down through generations as something worth keeping.
This tesbih honors that tradition.
Thirty-three barrel-shaped oltu stone beads, each finished with fine silver stripes that catch the light as the beads move through your fingers. A sterling silver coin, imame and Byzantine chain tassel complete the piece with the weight and presence it deserves.
The six-pointed star on the imame is the Seal of Solomon (Mühr-ü Süleyman in Turkish) — a motif with deep roots in Ottoman and Islamic art, found across centuries of tilework, architecture, and metalwork.
This is not a decorative object. It is a companion for dhikr — for remembrance — made to be held, used, and treasured. I string each tesbih by hand, with close attention to how the beads move and how the imame sits in the hand.
